Fernando Rangel de Sousa received the B.Eng. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Campina Grande, in 1996 and 2000, respectively, and the Piih.D. degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST), Paris, France, in 2004. From 1996 through 2000 he worked at industry, in consumer electronics companies like Sharp and Whirpool. In 2005 he worked at Federal University of Santa Catarina as a visiting professor. From 2006 to 2009 he was with Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, where was the head of the Microelectronics and Embedded Systems Laboratory . Now he is with Federal University of Santa Catarina, heading a research group focused in RF applications. Along the years he has served as ad-hoc consultant for federal science & technology funding agencies such as CNPq and he has consulted for several private and public companies, providing specialized courses and technical and commercial viability studies in the RF field. He also has served as reviewer for several specialized conferences and journals. Currently, Prof. Rangel is member of the steering committee of the SBCCI conference, counselor of the Brazilian Society of Microelectronics (SBMICRO), coordinator of the integrated circuit design activities win the INCT NAMITEC, member of the Circuits and Systems for Communications IEEE/CAS Technical Committee, member of the IEEE/I2MTC Technical Program Commitee, IEEE Senior Member, chair of the IMS/COMMSOC/CAS South-Brazil IEEE Chapter and counselor of the UFSC IEEE student branch. His main research interests are related to RF Electronics, Bioelectronics and Wireless Instrumentation Electronics.
